About 3 yrs ago, someone asked me about what kinds of things I like to do. My answer ... "I ... umm ... I... hmmm .... wellllll ... I don't know". I could easily tell you what I used to like to do...but I had no idea who I was anymore.
Wisdom or Woe?
Meliora means "pursuit for the better". To me though, it's far deeper than that. Meliora is one of the countless ways to describe, in one single word, how we are all connected. It's the softer way of saying "never leave the pain and struggle without the lesson". It's the short version of "I've survived 100% of my worst-evers thus far. Give IN, but never give UP". It's a subtle yet stiff reminder that I am not unique. The ingredients of our recipes may be a bit different, but ultimately the end results taste the same.

Facades are meant for buildings...not people.
I have stories for days, many of which are as dark and frightening as the next person's. I also have insanely awesome triumphs, like choosing to discover the new ME by stepping outside my comfort zone... making my own earrings, then giving them to friends, building a website, getting my business license, and blogging this very moment. In between all that, the countless interactions and connections with complete strangers that I've had the honor of experiencing have taught me how beautiful people truly are, despite living in what sometimes seems like a broken world. And it all started with my willingness to be shameless and vulnerable...and with a dash of earrings.
Every day is a special occasion. Step outside your comfort zone. Try new things. Dance like everyone is watching and you do not care. And remember...facades aren't meant for people.
